With its roots in London history reaching as far back as 1290, when it was St James’ farm that hosted a fair every July, St James Market has always had its roots in the retail market. The modern structures that make up St James’ market, comprises of two buildings, and sits behind the Grade 2 listed façade, and aim to provide a modern uplift, while being sympathetic in palette and construction, for example continuing the use of light Yorkstone and bronze detailing.
The Crown Estate and Oxford Properties Group, along with Make Architects and Balfour Beatty, have restored, re-established, and created ‘210,000 sq. ft. of new, modern office accommodation, five flagship stores for best-in-class lifestyle and fashion brands, and seven new restaurants, all set within over half an acre of revitalised public space.'
