Examples of problems with the old designs of fire curtains

This article shares a number of examples of fire curtains Adexon have been called out to repair and/or replace during 2024.

Fire curtains typically fall into one of two design categories:

1) The old design: Uses metal fasteners for fabric retention in the side guides.
2) The new design: Utilises a continuous bar for fabric retention in the side guides

While older designs often appeal to cost-sensitive projects, they come with significant drawbacks, including shorter lifespans and higher failure rates. In contrast, Adexons modern design includes a 10-year warranty, providing long-term peace of mind.

We exclusively provide the new design due to its superior reliability and performance. While buyers may consider older models for their lower upfront costs, we strongly advise against this approach, as it often leads to higher replacement and maintenance expenses over time.

However, it is ultimately a project choice which we understand and as such are happy to pass on details about the options for buyers to enable them to make the most informed choice you can.

We continue to receive excited and enthusiastic feedback from the design and engineering about this break
through side guide design:

Grenfell and The Building Safety Act mean people are now testing their curtains more frequently from day one, as they should, instead of leaving them for years untested or only testing ad hoc.

More testing means more problems coming to light in the early months/ years after install.

The following are some examples of old products (not Adexon’s) that have failed within a relatively short period from installation:
