We were proud to support YDF Interiors with fire and smoke curtain systems for their luxury showroom located on the prestigious Brompton Road, directly opposite Harrods.
The project required systems that would not only meet the highest safety standards but also reflect the elegance and quality expected in such a premium setting.
The Challenge
The initial scope of works included a mix of EW vertical fire curtains, DH smoke curtains, and E-rated concertina fire curtains. However, as the design evolved and site requirements became more focused, the final specification called for two key systems:
- An EW 60 vertical fire curtain, providing 60 minutes of integrity and radiation control.
- A DH 60 vertical smoke curtain, providing 60 minutes of smoke control.
The challenge was to ensure these systems would integrate seamlessly into the showroom’s interior design, maintaining an unobtrusive presence while offering robust fire safety compliance.
The Solution
EW60 Vertical Fire Curtain – 1400mm wide by 2900mm high, finished in RAL 9005 Jet Black to align with the showroom’s aesthetic. Installed with an Emergency Retract Button (ERB), allowing safe passage in the event occupants become trapped on the opposite side during deployment.
DH60 Smoke Curtain – 1200mm wide by 3786mm high, also powder-coated to RAL 9005 Jet Black. This smoke curtain was installed without side guides, to protect and channel smoke while maintaining unobstructed access and clean aesthetics.
Results
The end result was a faultless integration of life safety systems into a high-end retail environment, delivering:
- Discreet protection without disrupting design aesthetics.
- Full compliance with the latest EN standards.
- User safety features such as the ERB for occupant reassurance.
